This year’s 11th Regional Euro-Atlantic Camp REACT was marked by a debate on the topic “Perspective of Montenegrin Membership to the EU – Agenda 2025“. All eighty participants from eleven countries shared the same impression that it was a unique opportunity to talk openly and relaxed about the topics of European perspectives not only of Montenegro, but of all countries in the region.
The quality of the discussions was guaranteed by introductory lecture by Gordana Đurovic, Professor at the Faculty of Economics in Podgorica and former Vice President of the Government of Montenegro for European Integration and the fact that future leaders from countries with different statuses on their European path took part in the debate.
The discussion on EU membership has largely solved many dilemmas about positive and negative aspects, fears, hopes, lessons learned, and challenges to young generations. Participants also share optimism that regional stability and security will be at a much more serious level and that the reform on the road to EU membership will contribute to a better quality of life for citizens.
REACT 2018 has been focused on exploring and debating different aspects and stages of Euroatlantic integration of Western Balkans. Beside EU Integration, participants carried out vivid discussion on several topics: Youth Policy (increasing youth mobility, cooperation and activism), Defense policy (EU and NATO), International relations, Rule of Law and Human Rights.
REACT gathers the young professionals and support polices that encourage interests, motivations and desire of citizens to support the politics of regional safety and cooperation by opening expert and broad public debate in order to perceive how these processes can be strengthened in the light of possible political and economic as well as potential security benefits of joining region to the NATO and EU in the future. The debate was organized within project EnlargEUrope, which is co-funded by Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Union. Learn more about the project here.
